Abstract

This paper, part of the SSBR PhD by Portfolio programme, introduces the AIDED© Process, an innovative framework for the specification, development, implementation, and commissioning of high-assurance systems. Developed by the author based on over 30 years of experience in the railway sector, the Process offers a coherent and holistic approach that extends beyond existing fragmented practices. While the primary application is within the railway industry, the AIDED© Process is designed to be transferable across industries requiring high-assurance systems. In addition to contributing to the Capstone Project, the paper provides a practical guideline for implementation within the author’s companies, Swiss Railway Engineering SRE GmbH and SwissRapide AG, as well as for other forward-looking organisations in the sector. To date, no publicly available process has been identified that integrates comparable methods into such a unified framework, underscoring the novelty and potential impact of the AIDED© Process.
