Abstract
The industry’s history reveals a striking trend: of the Fortune 500 companies listed in 1955, only 60 remained by 2017 (Perry, 2017). An alarming 88% either went bankrupt, merged, were acquired, or fell from top revenue rankings. This turnover exemplifies Schumpeterian creative destruction (Boehm, 2010), where innovation constantly reshapes industries. New technologies, business models, and processes make old methods obsolete. Though disruptive, this cycle drives efficiency, creates new sectors, improves living standards, and boosts global economic growth.
This capstone project proposes a bold reinvention of Johnson Controls Digital’s strategy. By fully leveraging the OpenBlue Platform, it aims to deliver transformative, customer-focused innovations that redefine smart building experiences post-COVID-19—positioning Johnson Controls as a leader in digital disruption and sustainable growth.
The proposal outlines a multi-faceted transformation strategy to secure Johnson Controls Digital’s long-term success.
