Abstract

This capstone project, Project Dragon: Capitalizing Blue Ocean Strategy for Sustainable & Digitalised Excellence of Verticals at Johnson Controls, builds on the strategic foundation set in earlier modules. Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) South East Asia’s strategic plan is anchored on four pillars—Strengthen Core Capabilities, Digitalization, Sustainability, and Verticalization—with the goal of doubling business growth, enhancing productivity, and increasing profitability by 5%. Through collaborative problem-solving and decision-making processes, JCI is positioned to shift from a competitive Red Ocean environment to a Blue Ocean space by leveraging its customizable and comprehensive building technologies to reinforce global leadership in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. Recognizing that up to 90% of strategy implementations fail, the project emphasizes the design of an integrated strategy execution model. This model highlights leadership, corporate culture, stakeholder engagement, communication, and risk management as critical success factors. Module 3 aims to achieve three key objectives: effective strategy execution, business model innovation to double JCI SEA’s growth, and the cultivation of long-term sustainability and resilience in a VUCA environment.
