Abstract:
This study examines the impact of talent management practices on employee retention at International House Yangon–Mandalay. Employee retention has become an important concern for educational institutions, particularly language schools that depend heavily on qualified teachers and experienced staff to maintain service quality and organizational performance. Despite the growing importance of talent management practices, limited empirical research has been conducted on how these practices influence employee retention in language schools in Myanmar. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of five talent management practices – talent attraction and recruitment, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition – on employee retention at International House Yangon–Mandalay. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and primary data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 82 employees out of 101 administrative staff and teaching staff at International House Yangon–Mandalay by using stratified random sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. It has been found that, there is positive correlation between all five talent management practices and employee retention. The results indicate that the five talent management practices collectively explain 55.8% of the variance in employee retention. Talent attraction and recruitment, training and development, carrier development and performance management were identified as significant predictors of employee retention. The findings suggest that organizations should strengthen talent management strategies by enhancing employer branding and recruitment practices, investing in professional development and implementing fair performance management systems, to improve employee retention. The scope of this study is limited to employees working at International House Yangon–Mandalay, and the findings may not be generalized to other organizations or industries.
