THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FINANCIAL DATA, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA ANALYTICS, ETHICS, GENERAL DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLIC SECTOR POLICYMAKING
This research evaluated how an AI governance framework benefits public policy. Data gathered from literature review and citizen consultation was used to evaluate engagement and financial data reviewed, were used to evaluate, and identify any challenges in this regard. The argument is made that AI is at the forefront of democracy.
The research approach is closely aligned with two philosophical traditions, pragmatism and interpretivism. It is pragmatic in ontology, it acknowledges the close alignment with an interpretivist stance on the need for diversity of thought and worldviews to develop better AI and new modes of governance. It is pragmatic in epistemology and axiology, a pragmatist acknowledges it’s perfectly possible to work with different types of knowledge and methods. The research aims to contribute to practical solutions to inform future practice ethics and governance of AI, and financials, and data, and policy.
The research is abductive and methodological approach is pragmatic applying mixed methods. Rich Picture (Berg, T., Bell, S., and Morse, S., 2019) and stories “AI Scenarios” (Orlikowski, Wanda., J., 1993) in the data collection on the Carnegie Council Global Ethics Day and the Citizen Conference on the Future of Europe Platforms. Also using the European Movement Ireland Events on that platform, and the approach was 6 cycles of Action Research It encompasses individual and organizational experiences, academic and business perspectives. The research design is closely aligned with descripto-explanatory, using Leximancer, an AI augmented text analysis tools’ qualitative and quantitative maps to visualize and interpret findings and connections in 36 documents and in responses to the AI scenarios.
